Via Vittorio Emanuele II
Informazioni storiche
English:
In the Middle Ages Via Maestra divided the village and its neighborhoods in half, then in the fifteenth century it's where more important and affluent noble families built their houses, "palaces" and the walled towers. The arcades were used for commercial activities by artisans, merchants, tradesmiths, and other skilled professionals; while the part outside the walls was encircled with vegetable gardens and green spaces.
On designated days, the entire arcade became a marketplace. Over the centuries it underwent considerable changes, preserving only a few examples of its medieval past: the tower of Provana and frontal faces of some of the more stately homes.
